The Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) is expanding its presence on national television through an extended partnership with CBS Sports. In 2025, CBS Sports Network is slated to broadcast up to 20 matches, including the PVF Championship semifinals and final. Furthermore, one PVF match will be featured on the CBS Television Network, marking a historic first for professional volleyball on national over-the-air television. This expanded agreement aims to increase national visibility for the league and cultivate a broader fanbase.
The PVF, which began in 2022 with seven teams, has plans for further expansion. The current teams include the Atlanta Vibe, Columbus Fury, Vegas Thrill, Grand Rapids Rise, Omaha Supernovas, Orlando Valkyries, and San Diego Mojo, with new teams planned for Kansas City, Dallas, and Indianapolis in 2025.
In addition to professional league news, college volleyball continues to draw significant attention. The NCAA women’s volleyball championship has seen record-breaking attendance, with the Texas Longhorns winning their second consecutive title in front of nearly 20,000 fans. Junior hitter Madisen Skinner was named Most Outstanding Player for her performance in that championship match.
College teams like the University of Pittsburgh’s women’s volleyball team have also been strong contenders, consistently making deep runs in the NCAA Tournament, including eyeing a fifth consecutive Final Four appearance in 2025. Loyola University’s men’s volleyball team is also returning to the NCAA Tournament after a decade-long absence, powered by a strong performance in their conference tournament.
Volleyball World, in partnership with CBS Sports and the Big Ten Network, is also bringing elite international volleyball to American audiences. This groundbreaking collaboration will provide comprehensive coverage of the 2025 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and FIVB World Championships, including all matches featuring the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams. This increased access to international competitions reflects the growing popularity of volleyball in the U.S., with the sport being the most-played team sport among high school girls.
