The international volleyball scene is buzzing with anticipation as the 2026 season promises a thrilling calendar of events. From the highly anticipated Volleyball Nations League (VNL) to prestigious youth tournaments, fans can expect a year packed with world-class action. The FIVB has announced the official pools and host cities for the 2026 VNL, with both the women’s and men’s finals set to be held in China – Macau and Ningbo, respectively. This major international competition will feature the world’s top 18 women’s and 18 men’s teams, with the preliminary phase spanning from June 3 to July 19 across multiple venues worldwide.
Nations League Finals and Key Dates
The women’s VNL Finals will take place in Macau from July 22-26, while the men’s finals are scheduled for Ningbo from July 29 to August 2. Leading up to the finals, the preliminary rounds will showcase intense competition. For instance, the first week of the women’s VNL will commence on June 3, with China hosting teams like Belgium, Czechia, Poland, Serbia, and Thailand in Nanjing. Meanwhile, the men’s VNL action will kick off a week later, on June 10, with matches held in the same three countries as the women’s competition.
Domestic and Youth Volleyball Action
Beyond the VNL, various domestic leagues and youth tournaments are also on the horizon. In the United States, Major League Volleyball (MLV) is set to host its All-Star Match on March 28 in Orlando, Florida, featuring top talent selected through fan voting and league input. On the collegiate front, the AVCA Division III Men’s Volleyball Poll, as of March 17, 2026, ranks Carthage at No. 1, with Illinois Wesleyan making its debut in the rankings at No. 20.
For younger athletes, the AAU International Volleyball Championships are scheduled for June 5-7, 2026, offering a platform for emerging talent. Italy will host the prestigious Cornacchia World Cup from April 3-6, 2026, in Pordenone, an event known for fostering international youth competition and sportsmanship.
Regional and Collegiate Showdowns
Regional competitions are also heating up. In Southern California, high school boys’ volleyball is seeing intense matchups, with Edison High School securing a recent victory that sets the stage for crucial league showdowns. On the collegiate beach volleyball circuit, the West Coast Conference is gearing up for its tournament on April 23-24 in Santa Monica, California. Before that, teams will compete in various invitational tournaments, including the Eagle Invitational on March 20-21 in Fort Myers, Florida, where FIU will face off against FGCU, Jacksonville, Sam Houston, and Palm Beach State.
