Hyo Joo Kim has secured her eighth career LPGA Tour title, triumphing in the Fortinet Founders Cup at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, California. Kim held off a strong challenge from world No. 2 Nelly Korda to win by a single stroke, finishing at 16-under-par 272. Kim, who began the final round with a five-shot lead, faced significant pressure as Korda mounted a comeback. However, crucial par saves in the back nine and a steady performance under challenging conditions ultimately secured the victory for the South Korean golfer. Kim’s earlier rounds of 63, 70, and 66 set the stage for her wire-to-wire win, earning her $450,000 from a $3 million purse.

Fitzpatrick Triumphs at Valspar Championship

In PGA Tour action, Matt Fitzpatrick clinched the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida. Fitzpatrick carded a final-round 68 to secure his victory, overcoming a challenging tournament where he experienced frustration with playing partner Adrien Dumont de Chassart’s pace of play. Despite the distractions, Fitzpatrick’s consistent play, including a crucial birdie on the 72nd hole, led him to an 11-under-par finish. This win marks a significant achievement for Fitzpatrick, especially coming after a close finish at The Players Championship the previous week.
