Volleyball’s Expanding Presence on CBS Sports

The landscape of professional volleyball is experiencing significant growth, with CBS Sports playing a crucial role in bringing the sport to a wider audience. The Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) has extended its partnership with CBS Sports, ensuring more matches will be broadcast on national television. For the 2025 season, CBS Sports Network is slated to air up to 20 PVF matches, including the championship semifinals and final. Notably, one PVF match will be broadcast on the main CBS Television Network, marking a historic first for professional women’s volleyball on national over-the-air television. This expanded agreement aims to increase national visibility and cultivate a larger fanbase for the sport.

Major League Volleyball (MLV) is also bolstering its broadcast presence for the 2026 season with an extensive national schedule. Fans can expect to see up to 50 matches broadcast across various platforms, including CBS Sports Network, Roku Sports Channel, VICE, and ION. The San Diego Mojo, for instance, will have nine nationally broadcast games. This comprehensive schedule includes a Thursday “Match of the Week” on Roku Sports Channel and Sunday matches on VICE, culminating in the MLV Championship semifinals and final airing on ION. All remaining matches will be available for streaming on the MLV YouTube channel.

The increasing interest in volleyball is evident, with the sport ranking as the most popular team sport among high school girls in the United States. The excitement generated by NCAA women’s volleyball has contributed to this surge, and the Pro Volleyball Federation is actively building on this momentum. The PVF’s expansion includes adding new teams, such as franchises in Dallas, Texas, and Kansas City, Missouri, set to join in 2026, and Sacramento, California, which will also have a team in 2026.

CBS Sports’ commitment to women’s sports extends beyond volleyball, with significant coverage of leagues like the WNBA and NWSL. The network has recently announced a long-term, multiplatform rights agreement with the WNBA, which will feature up to 20 regular-season games annually on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+ for the 2026 season. This comprehensive approach by CBS Sports underscores its dedication to showcasing high-level women’s athletics across its platforms.

While March Madness is currently dominating the college sports landscape on CBS, the professional volleyball seasons for both the PVF and MLV are gearing up for exciting new seasons, promising increased accessibility and visibility for fans.
