Volleyball in Full Swing: March Madness and Major Leagues Heat Up the Court

As March 2026 unfolds, the world of volleyball is buzzing with activity, from elite international competitions to thrilling domestic league matchups. Fans are treated to a dynamic schedule featuring top-tier talent and emerging stars across all levels of the sport.

Major League Volleyball All-Star Showcase

The Major League Volleyball (MLV) is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2026 All-Star Match, set to take place on Saturday, March 28, at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando. The rosters, unveiled on March 17, feature a star-studded lineup of the league’s finest players, selected through a combination of fan voting, player input, and league decisions. This event promises a spectacular display of skill and competition, with the Indy Ignite leading the pack with five All-Star selections, followed closely by the Dallas Pulse and Orlando Valkyries, each contributing four players. The match will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.

International Volleyball Nations League Approaching

Preparations are well underway for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL). The official pools and host cities were revealed in late January, setting the stage for a global spectacle. The women’s VNL is scheduled from June 3 to July 26, with the finals hosted in Macau, China. The men’s VNL will follow from June 10 to August 3, culminating in the finals in Ningbo, China. This expanded 18-team format for both genders promises an action-packed tournament across multiple continents.

Domestic and Collegiate Action

Beyond the major leagues and international circuits, various other events are capturing attention. The Auburn Tigers are set to host a special spring match against Troy on March 28 to benefit the Volleyball Student-Athlete Enhancement Fund, offering fans a unique opportunity to support the team while getting an early look at the squad.

In collegiate play, the NCAA season is in full swing, with matches like the one between Letran and Perpetual men’s teams on March 18 highlighting the competitive spirit. Meanwhile, the University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team is set to open Big West Conference play against rival Long Beach State on March 20 and 21.

Additionally, the Cornacchia World Cup, an elite youth volleyball tournament in Italy, is scheduled for April 3-6, 2026, in Pordenone, continuing its tradition of fostering international connections through sport.

The AVCA is also celebrating Officiation Week from March 20-28, encouraging teams to show appreciation for volleyball officials.
